Cody Performing at the Kiss 98.5 “Kiss the Summer Hello” Concert
Miranda Cosgrove, star of Nickelodeon’s “iCarly” (and hero to kindergarten- through tween-aged girls) will appear at Hartman Arena on Aug. 12.
Cosgrove will stop in Wichita as part of her “Dancing Crazy 2011″ tour. Singer Cody Simpson will also appear.
Tickets are $27, $32, $39 and $59 and go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday at stage1tickets.com and at the Hartman Arena Box Office.
The young pop star Cody Simpson was egged on Saturday at the Miranda Fair Shopping Centre in Sydney’s Sutherland Shire. With screaming fans patiently waiting (yet very excited) somebody threw eggs at the entertainer and the whole event was cancelled instantly. Security stepped in and the opportunity to meet the entertainer ended as there apparently wasn’t any control from one person in the crowd as they assaulted the celebrity in broad daylight.
Cody Simpson is an up and coming star who has been putting his time in for the fans. The 14-year-old has been catering to fans with autographs, photos and concerts all over the United States and in his home country of Australia. He has been building a name for his music with hard work.
Being egged, in front of security and fans, is a deja vu moment for the entertainment business in Australia. Only weeks ago Justin Bieber was in Sydney, Australia, in front of thousands of fans on stage and someone threw eggs at him too. The young egg tossed assailant was later arrested, but the damage was done as he gave someone else the idea to do the same.
Cody Simpson currently lives in Los Angeles, but being a native to Australia, it had to be a disappointing moment for the young performer. He has worked so hard to accumulate fans and can’t get too close because of the action of one individual who decided to assalt him by throwing eggs.
Cody had to cancel his autograph signing in Sydney the other day after his concert got egged by teenagers – probably even ones that were friends with the teens who egged Justin Bieber back when he had a concert in Sydney, too. JustJaredJr and The Daily Telegraph has more on the story.
Don’t egg anyone!
Cody Simpson takes the stage at the Westfield Miranda Mall in Sydney, Australia on Saturday afternoon (May 28).
The 14-year-old Aussie singer, who was only three songs into his set, had to cancel his signing afterwards because he was egged off stage!
SAFM reports that, “eggs were thrown at him from a balcony above, clearing the singer’s head and landing behind him.”
Cody tweeted after the event and incident, “I’m sorry, the mall is now deemed unsafe. I’m not allowed to do a signing, but thankyou Sydney for coming out. hopefully see you next time.”
BIEBER-ISH fever hit Sydney yesterday as new-kid-on-the-block Cody Simpson whipped his adoring fans into a frenzy at Miranda.
The Gold Coast youngster – dubbed the new “JB” – showed off his dancing skills and dodged an egging as he strutted his stuff before 1500 screaming fans at the shopping centre.
But the attack, just weeks after Bieber was pelted by an egg-throwing teen at his Acer Arena concert, prompted safety concerns, forcing the 14-year-old to cut short his meet-and-greet.
Security guards had to form a human wall to stop crazed teens trampling the stage and dozens of girls had to be pulled from the crowd.
“I lost my shoe and someone was pulling my hair but it was still amazing,” said 14-year-old fan Kirsty-Lee Dunn. “He has so much talent. I don’t understand why somebody would throw an egg at him.
“They’re just jealous.”
When he left the stage, Simpson, who was due to play five songs and promote his new shoe range, was devastated that his performance was cut short.
Aussie heartthrob, Cody Simpson, will appear at Westfield Miranda on Saturday May 28 for a free performance and ‘meet-and-greet’ session with fans.
Dubbed the ‘Australian Justin Bieber’, the singing sensation will perform with sister Alli at 3:30pm at Centre Court on Level 2 of the Westfield centre, to celebrate the launch of his hot new shoe range Pastry.
Cody, who got his start on YouTube singing covers of popular songs and his own material, was discovered by Shawn Campbell, a Grammy-nominated super producer who has worked with stars like Jay-Z.
Most recently, Cody’s version of I Want Candy was the theme song of the animated film Hop.
Cody has also added ‘award winning artist’ to his resume, winning the Fresh Aussie Muso award at the Nickelodeon Australian Kids Choice Awards in 2010.
